At Derby Museums we build museums with and for our communities. We are committed to ensuring our programmes are accessible and relevant, keeping communities at the heart of what we do.

We truly believe our work with communities brings the collections to life, if you are a local community group please get in touch to see if we can work together on a project or have a presence at your community event.

Derby Museums have an expanding programme of activities in and around the city and county aimed at enhancing personal wellbeing, facilitating greater understanding of our collections and encouraging creative engagement with culture and heritage. We want to work alongside the people of Derby, offering interaction with world-class collections while, equally importantly, supporting social connections. Derby Museums is committed to working with communities and individuals, finding ways to make and create our exhibitions, events and museums together.

Community Partnerships

We love to work in partnership with our communities to deepen our connections and build positive and mutually beneficial relationships, ensuring that we meet community needs and interests and that our museums are socially inclusive and relevant. Previous projects and community collaborations have celebrated the rich and changing communities and culture that are unique to Derby and have included, co-produced interpretation and exhibitions and displays, collaborative events and workshops, and community led collections and historical research.
